10 Great Grilling Dry Rub Seasonings

Salt and pepper are great for a simple seasoning blend for your grilled dishes but sometimes you want to up the flavor with a homemade dry rub seasoning.  As such the team at Chef Works, a leading provider of culinary apparel for professionals and home cooks alike, have compiled 10 dry rub recipes to help kick up your grilled steaks, chicken, vegetables and more!

KANSAS CITY DRY RUB

Kansas City inspired barbecue dishes starts with a classic dry rub which – by tradition – is on the sweeter side. Here’s what you’ll need to make your own delicious Kansas City style seasoning at home.

Ingredients

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup paprika

1 tbsp. black pepper

1 tbsp. salt

1 tbsp. chili powder

1 tbsp. garlic powder

1 tbsp. onion powder

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake. Store in an airtight container.

 

CAROLINA DRY RUB

Ingredients

2 tsp. salt

2 tsp. sugar

2 tsp. brown sugar

2 tsp. ground cumin

2 tsp. chili powder

2 tbsp. freshly ground pepper

¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

1/4 cup paprika

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake. Store in an airtight container.

 

ROSEMARY GARLIC DRY RUB

If you’re a bigger fan of chicken than you are of red meat – or if you’re looking for some less traditional barbecue flavors – this Tuscan-inspired rub might be right up your alley.

Ingredients

1/4 cup dried rosemary

2 tablespoons dried oregano

1 tablespoon dried sage

2 tablespoons dried garlic flakes

1/3 cup kosher salt

2 tablespoons cracked black pepper

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake. Store in an airtight container.

 

JAMAICAN JERK DRY RUB

If you enjoy Caribbean flavors such as nutmeg, allspice, ginger and cinnamon, this dry rub is an ideal way to put a tropical spin on your next summertime cookout. This rub works best when used on poultry or pork.

2 tbsp. kosher salt

2 tsp. brown sugar

2 tsp. garlic powder

2 tsp. onion powder

2 teaspoons ground allspice

1 teaspoon crushed dried hot pepper

1 teaspoon dried chives

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

CLASSIC PORK DRY RUB

From pork chops to grilled pork loin, pork is definitely a popular choice among barbecue connoisseurs. This basic rub recipe is quick and easy, making it the perfect add-on to your favorite pork dish.

1/3 cup paprika

1/4 cup sugar

3 teaspoons black pepper

2 tablespoons salt

¼ teaspoon cayenne

1 teaspoon white pepper

CARIBBEAN JERK SEASONING
